  The author, famous for his discoveries in renal medicine, travelled widely and his account includes an account of the Vienna School of Medicine under Hildenbrand. Some of the plates are after Bright himself. The cancel concerns a cameo in the Imperial collection depicting the murder of Clytemnestra. The description has been altered to avoid condemnation of the murderers.
